Grilled shrimp

Description :

Grilled shrimp, with its delicate and slightly sweet flavor, pairs exceptionally well with light to medium-bodied wines that have good acidity. The natural flavors of the shrimp are complemented by crisp white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc or unoaked Chardonnay, which enhance the seafood’s freshness and the subtle char from the grill. For those who prefer a bit more complexity, a dry Rosé or a light-bodied red like Pinot Noir can add fruity notes that harmonize with the smoky and savory aspects of grilled shrimp. Sparkling wines like Prosecco or Champagne are also excellent choices, adding a refreshing effervescence that cuts through the dish’s richness.

Ingredients :

  • Shrimp: 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Marinade: 2 tablespoons olive oil, 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Skewers: Wooden or metal skewers
  • Optional Garnish: Fresh parsley, lemon wedges

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the shrimp to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Allow the shrimp to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15-30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  3. Skewer and Grill: Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers. Grill the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are pink, opaque, and have a slight char.
  4. Serve: Remove the shrimp from the grill and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges. Serve hot, paired with your chosen wine—Sauvignon Blanc, unoaked Chardonnay, dry Rosé, or a light-bodied Pinot Noir—to enhance the flavors of the grilled shrimp.
